We headed out for our second day in Scotland after a wonderful nights stay at Dalhousie Castle, just outside of Edinburgh. Breakfast in the morning included the best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had.

We visited Rosslyn Chapel first thing in the morning; which was only 15 minutes away from Dalhousie Castle. I love Rosslyn Chapel!!! If you have read The Da Vinci Code then you will totally understand my fascination. There is not a square inch of the chapel that isn’t covered in a symbol of some sort. It’s magnificent. The outside was under repair, but the inside was mysterious and just perfect. I wish more pictures would have been allowed.

After we saw the chapel and visited the gift shop, we saw a wooded trail leading to the Rosslyn Castle ruins. What a wonderful surprise!!! The ruins were amazing!! What a beautiful castle this would have been in the 1300’s.

Stirling Castle was next on our list as we started to make our way north into the Highlands of Scotland!! Stirling Castle is another must-see stop for any trip to Scotland.

It was a rainy, chilly Scottish day, but we still had a blast exploring the castle and absorbing the history that this magnificent castle holds. Make sure you top in the little café for a latte and a scone with clotted crème to warm you up!!

We made reservation to stay at Tigh Na Geald B&B in Aboyne for the night. The owner Julia was called out of town suddenly for her daughter, so she left us in the care of a young man who helped us to settle in. After that we headed to dinner at the Boat Inn. Best fish and chips of the entire trip!!!

Stay tuned for day 3 of our trip to Scotland when we hit the Scotland Castle Trail!!!
