I’d have to say that Killarney is my favorite little Irish town to stay in if you like the pubs and shopping!!

We chose Killarney for our 4th and 5th nights in Ireland because is a great starting point for both the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. Actually, it a great place to base yourself for almost all of what the south-west part of Ireland has to offer.

We booked two nights stay at Murphy’s Pub Killarney; right in the middle of town. The rooms are upstairs of the pub and easy access to all the town has to offer. We loved it!! Murphy’s is not a 5 star hotel, but suited our needs perfectly for only $45 per person/night!! We barely saw the rooms with all the exploring and pub crawling we did.

When we are traveling in a group of girls like this, I always look for Hotels and B&Bs with triple rooms. European travel is great for this!!! This is just not something we see in the U.S. very often. Look at this huge room we found at the Bunratty Manor  right by the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.

Most of the time, we can rent 2 triple rooms instead of 3 double rooms for cheaper. Many of the castle hotels we stay in also have triple rooms or what they call family rooms. If you look at Murphy’s Bar Killarney, you pay the same price for a triple room (twin and a full bed) as you do for a room with just a full bed. Though, some B&Bs will charge you per person.

We spent our day exploring the Dingle Peninsula; arriving in Killarney in time for a great dinner while listening to some live music in Murphy’s Bar and the off to hit the town for some more music and craic!! We walked about a block down the road to O’Donoghue’s Public House to listen to some fun Irish Pub music and have a pint!!

We had a blast getting to know the locals and started our love affair with Bulmers Cider!!!! We found out that Bulmer’s is called Magners anywhere outside of Ireland, so we can even buy this at our local grocery store!!

After the music concluded for the night, we were persuaded by some locals to head over to McSorley’s Music Club to end the night dancing till the wee hours of the morning!!!
